• Iris - halfling warlock. Luxon born but brainwashed by parents to worship Moon Weaver
• Jimmy - sea elf druid. Your friendly neighborhood boy scout.

Strong Start

As the party heads to the finale for the Festival of Merit, Iris will have a vision from her patron.

“After a day full of competition and fun, the sun begins to set and the sound of rhythmic drumming echoes throughout the Jumble, summoning festival goers for the finale.”

Pequena the explains to the party. “Every year, the elders of the city announce who will be participating in the finale at the paddock we were at earlier with horizonback tortoises. With the performances you all had today, I have no doubt you will be in the finale. We will just need to see who you are competing against. After the teams are announced a procession will head out in the direction of the final contest. Let’s head that way.”

• Communication from Iris’s Patron on their way to the Emerald Grotto race
  • “As you head off towards the finale, Iris you start to see a silvery wisp in front of you. It drifts about above you and your companions. ” Pause to see if she wants to do anything. I will have her make a DC 25 Charisma saving throw as her patron tries to convincer her of its will.
  • “After another minute or so, the wisp starts to grow in size and transforms into a shark. It swims through the air as though attacking indistinguishable foes. It then thrashes about suddenly and runs into a silvery wall. As the shark collides with the wall, a portion of the wall opens up and golden light emits from the new opening. The silvery wisp reveals itself once more and transforms into an arrow pointing in the direction of the new opening. Slowly the silvery image dissipates.”
• Paddock Interactions
  • “Approaching the paddock you can make out some of the participants as well as a decent sized crowd. A platform has been erected in the middle where three figures can be seen. As you get closer it is easy to distinguish them as the elders of Jigow. Glancing about you also notice two individuals who are bandaged from the waste down positioned near the planform and in chairs. Pequena states, It will be a few minutes before the elders announce the winners.” Is there anything you wish to do?
  • “A loud drum beats for several seconds to silence the crowd. An elderly orc dressed in deep blue robes, stands atop a crate. He smiles at the crowd. “Mighty warriors, brilliant strategists, you have impressed us with your feats of strength, your incisive wit, and your sturdy bellies,” he booms proudly. “But the main event, as you know, is yet to come. The top two teams have earned the privilege to compete in the final challenge - a race through Emerald Grotto, in the depth of which the greatest prize awaits. “ ”And now for our winners! The team leading the competition at this point with 45 points is the Norgab Horde! In second with 30 points is the Gakthas Clan! The winner of the final earns their team 20 points and the title of winner of the Festival of Merit. Now let’s head off to the Black Islands and the Emerald Grotto shall we with the participating teams following the elders please.“

  • “Eventually you make it to the smallest of the islands and the elders have you stand together as a team. Elder Colbu Kaz places four potions in front of you and says “Their magic lasts for one hour.”

• Winners
  • Whichever party retrieves the Emerald Eye and presents it to the elders is declared the winners of the Festival of Merit. They are presented:
    • 100 gp in exchange for the Emerald Eye
    • The winning elder is presented the headdress
    • The party is offered one favor from the elders
    • A free night’s stay at the Unbroken Tusk Inn

  • “After much of the celebration has died down, a slender disheveled drow approaches Dmitri and says “Congratulations on your win today. I’m not sure if you remember me, but about a week ago you stopped me from taking tips at the Blushing Bear Tavern. You knocked out one of my teeth and left me unconscious. Since then I’ve been doing a lot of thinking and want to be better. Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for knocking some sense into me.”
